Important Information Regarding Travel with Art Materials
- Airlines DO NOT ALLOW volatile chemicals on airplanes, either in checked baggage or in carry on luggage. Please plan to purchase any solvent based products at Art Supply stores in Santa Fe.
- Some Airlines will not allow oil paint on flights so please check with your carrier as to their policy and require written permission to check your art materials on the aircraft in the event the baggage handler on the day of your flight may not allow your bags on board with potentially dangerous materials. Airlines may insist that you Fed Ex or UPS your materials so plan extra time before your flight for that eventuality.
Ordering Materials and Shipping
- You may ship your materials in advance of your arrival to Andreeva Portrait Academy 215 W. San Francisco, Suite 202 Santa Fe, NM 87501. Your Name, Title of Class, Instructor and Dates of Class must appear prominently on the box. APA will do everything to assure that your supplies are stored safely upon arrival, however we cannot guarantee against misplacement or lost deliveries and strongly recommend that you purchase insurance when shipping for your materials.

Health and Safety
- Andreeva Portrait Academy values the health of our students and is aware that some students have chemical sensitivities. APA recommends using Gamsol Odorless Mineral Spirits in place of turpentine to reduce excess contaminants in the air. We provide Gamsol OMS for students use because we wish to maintain a more health conscious studio environment and reduce toxic exposure.
- Some painting mediums will be available at APA for students use.
- Students are required to store mediums and solvents in APA's Fireproof Cabinet in closed containers at the end of every day.
